Afghan Children's School Project

The Afghan children’s school project is a joint effort between the Marines and Spirit of America. The program’s mission is to keep the American public connected to the efforts of Marine’s in Helmand Province, while at the same time, providing much needed supplies to schools in Afghanistan. Functioning schools stabilize communities, and when communities are stable, less violence occurs.
What to Send:

3. Paper Notebooks (non-metal bound)
4. Colored Pencil Packs
5. Pencil Sharpeners
6. Boxes of Chalk
7. Hand held Chalk Boards
8. Erasers
9. Protractors
10. School glue

12. Zip-lock bags
13. Art Paper
What NOT to Send:
In order to ensure the safety of the Marines, coalition partners, and Afghan children and parents, the following should Not be sent:
- No material with pictures of boys and girls together.
- No pictures of Disney cartoon characters portrayed on the materials.
- No material that reflects any type of religious faith (no crosses, no pictures of any gods, or goddesses, no pictures reflecting western religious faith, no coloring books reflecting the same).
- No materials that reflect any national sentiment (no flags portrayed, no victory slogan, no national memorabilia).
Shipping Guidelines
Spirit of America will ensure donations are shipped from the US to Afghanistan. For ease of delivery, contributions should be packed in “Kits” consisting of 200 of each of the following items and shipped in as few boxes as possible that meet the shipping guidelines below. Shipping labels will be provided up on confirmation of total number of boxes included in the donation.
- No package can exceed 72 inches in length.
- No package can exceed 130 inches when you add the length to its girth.
- No package can exceed 70 pounds.
