10th Annual 3rd Tracks Gator Beach Bash
Eight food stations served a diverse array of food including pulled pork sandwiches, barbeque chicken, brats, bacon dogs, teriyaki chicken, Mexican food and All-American cheeseburgers. Starbucks and Monsters Beverages served specialized drinks. Desserts included cookies from the Assisteens of Capistrano Valley, frappuccino ice cream sundaes from Fallbrook Protea and root beer floats from the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
WOCHP president and founder, Cynthia Martinez, spoke and reflected on the first Beach Bash that was hosted in 2005. The organization was honored to welcome the Commanding General and his wife from the 1st Marine Division. This was a reunion as he had previously attended the 2005 homecoming party for the 1st battalion 5th Marines in 2005, right after serving as Commanding Officer in Iraq. 12 years later, they met again for the families of Third Tracks, which is currently under his command.
Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise (WOCHP), a non-profit organization that serves those in the U.S. Armed Forces and families, celebrated its 10th annual Third Tracks Gator Beach Bash at Camp Pendleton, honoring the Marines and Sailors of the 3D Assault Amphibian Battalion. This year's event featured a country western theme, and hosted an attendance of about 2,000 people.
Our troops were able to participate in a multitude of fun activities, including tug-o-war competitions, line dancing contests, karaoke sing-offs, and watermelon and pie-eating contests. Throughout, various prizes were won or handed out to the families. Military families were also pampered with massage therapy sessions with an ocean view. For children, game stations were set up which allowed them to also play and win prizes. Clowns also entertained with balloons and face painting.
The Beach Bash was a huge success, thanks to the generous support and aid brought by Words of Comfort, Hope, and Promise’s partners, volunteers, sponsors and friends.

Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise’s motto is “What makes a nation great is love for one another”, which was the message that reflected greatly at this event.
